Throughout that span, the company has had several tries at re-inventing historical pieces that supplemented their reputation as one of the iconic watch makers of the world. Some of the series most famous lines, the Heritage, has added another piece to the collection, the Longines Legend Diver Watch.
The watch retains the design and visuals representative of the sixties. Longines has also utilized the expertise of modern means to service this new line with guaranteed legibility, water-proof features, and practicality. This is the perfect combination of performance and elegance.
Based in Saint-Imier in Switzerland, Longines has competed with the likes of Omega, Rolex, Bell and Ross, Breitling, Montblanc, and more. The reissue of the diving watch references the company’s aim to pay tribute to a bold style debuted during a time when underwater exploration and sports diving gained momentum. The lines of the watch follow a pattern and include throwback features such as the domed crystal.
While the watch preserves the sixties flavor, it still has contemporary features that allow it to stand alongside modern contemporaries. It has a sapphire crystal, water-resistance rating of 300m, and an internal bidirectional rotating disc for divers. The flange is activated by one of the crowns, and indexes, digits, and hands covered with Super-LumiNova. Users can observe the typography of the 3, 6, 9, and 12 digits contrasted with the black lacquired dial.
The entire box measures 42mm and consists of stainless steel material. The movement is powered by an L633 automatic mechanism. The box also has an image of a diver on its back. Buyers can find the watch with three different straps, including rubber, cowhide, or new Milanese.
