Montblanc 1958 Chronograph Tachymeter Limited Edition

October 29, 2017 at 8:41 pm

The Chronograph Tachymeter Limited Edition release from Montblanc comes in bronze with a salmon dial and is part of a re-launch of their 1858 collection. At 44 mm, the watch is light on the wrist, but heavy on the attention. It houses an attractive salmon dial that enhances its pristine, vintage feel, recalling the earlier Minerva chronographs of the 1930s. The blued chronograph and seconds hand also play a key part with their muted color tone. Additional features include the noticeably large hands, Arabic numerals, and Montblanc logo transferred from the previous year’s limited edition model.

The attractive dial is also complemented by a beautiful movement displayed through an open caseback. The MB M16.29 is a monopusher chronograph caliber with column wheel mechanism, a feature influenced by the original pocket movement of 1930s Minerva editions. The hand-wound movement has a 50-hour power reserve with large screwed wheel beats at 18,000 semi-oscillations an hour. The beauty of the watch is further emphasized with German silver plates and bridges.
