Based of a recent partnership with the Professional Association of Diving Instructors, or PADI, Seiko has debuted the Prospex Special Edition PADI SPB071J1 as part of their line-up. The watch has been an attraction to fans not only for the new colors, but its significance as part of the PADI certification process. The watch is based upon the 62MAS, the original dive watch from Seiko that was first debuted in 1965. This new addition boasts a number of new features.

The distinct feature of the Special Edition PADI SPB071J1 is a new gradient dial that has a deep blue to inky black color combination. This is a combination also seen in the Rolex Deepsea Sea-Dweller D-Blue 116660. It also exhibits a wave pattern with some deep texture. The dial responds favorably to light and there are red accents surrounding the chapter ring and minute hand.
