The start of the 365-day countdown to the 2018 Winter Olympics in South Korea is met with the announcement of the limited edition Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean Olympics watch. In 2016, watch enthusiasts saw the debut of the Omega Seamaster 300m limited edition watch. The upcoming model for the 2018 Winter games shifts focus to the higher end Planet Ocean watch series. The new Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean will be displayed in a new blue and red color pattern, paying tribute to the colors on the South Korean flag.

Some of the most visually inspiring and innovative dive watches come from Omega’s Planet Ocean line. The Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean PyeongChang 2018 Olympics continues this line’s design and styling patterns. The watch features a 43,5mm stainless steel case that is water-resistant up to 600 meters. It also contains a manually operated helium escape valve even if many wearers will rarely use it.

For the watch, Omega created a dial that is composed of polished blue ceramic along with subtle touches of red, providing a unique representation of South Korea’s flag. Users can read the hour markers represented in rhodium-plated indexes with additions of Arabic numerals. As a dive watch, the indexes along with the handset have been applied with Super-LumiNova.

Users can also find the rotating bezel containing a distinct blend of ceramic and rubber. The watch is powered by Omega’s METAS-certified Co-axial Master Chronometer Calibre 8900. The movement functions at a frequency of 3.5Hz, accommodating a power reserve of up to 60 hours. Users can see the movement through a carefully crafted sapphire crystal case back containing the words “PLANET OCEAN” and “LIMITED EDITION” along with the “PyeongChang 2018” and the logo of the games.
