Omega Railmaster 60th Anniversary Master Chronometer 38mm
The Omega Railmaster is a distinctive watch that is a mainstay of any watch enthusiasts’ collection. It is considered the third musketeer of Omega’s “Class of ‘57”, which also includes the Seamaster 300 and Speedmaster.
The watch was released in 1957 and marketed towards scientists and technicians working in fields involving electromagnetic fields. It was introduced by Omega to go toe-to-toe with the likes of Rolex Milgauss and the IWC Ingenieur, promoted to railroad workers, which became the brand’s likeness. The pioneer Railmaster, the CK 2914 was differentiated from other competitors through a magnetic resistance of 1,000 gauss, copper-finished movement, double case, extra-thick dial, and iron dusting. The piece did not find as much success as musketeer trio released in 1957. In recent years, the series has returned back to the market with a special vintage homage edition, made to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the release.
