Although it may not seem that long ago, the watches of the 90s are now huge statement pieces for collectors today. The fashions are coming back as it has not been 30 years since we all donned our best plaid to go out. The watches are considered vintage and the top sports watches from the 90s that were once considered a huge bargain, are starting to tick up in price. The lasting quality of these watches is making them a leader in design and a huge favourite amongst many collectors today.

When we consider the top sports watches from the 90s we need to look at the top sports watches of the decade. Although these are not deep vintage cuts, the watches we looked at are considered high luxury and products that are a huge boon to the luxury watch market today. Here are some of the premiere sports watches of the 90s:

The Rolex Explorer 14270

The Rolex Explorer 14270 is a watch that has some incredible details. It is not only the first modern Rolex watch but it is the first model that features the crown on the design. The look of the watch spans the 1990s and it has a few spillover pieces for the decades. From 1989 until 2001 the Rolex explorer was a top design for its mid-century appeal, the rugged details and the design of the bracelet as well. The watch was recreated for the 90s featuring a 36mm face and the perfect painted numeral design for this era. The black gloss dial and the movement featuring a 48 hour power reserve and 27 jewels is a standout in Rolex design. This is an ultra-collectable piece.

Seiko SKX007

This classic Seiko watch can be found regularly for $200 in decent condition and it is one of the strongest sports watches from the 90s. The affordability of this model makes it a shoe in for many entry level collectors and it features an astounding 200 meter water resistance. This is one of the first dive watches that Seiko produced and it features charming styling. The dial here is minimal and the movement is fairly simple too. The watch can run for more than a decade without gaining or losing a few months of time. It comes with some exceptional features for its price point and it a luxury watch for a budget price.

Omega Seamaster 300M professional 2531.80.00

Omega was responsible for producing some fairly flashy designs back in the 90s. This sports watch from Omega comes with a look that can’t be duplicated in the other luxury models. The dial is built with a wavy pattern, the movement is striking and the case comes with a form factor mold that fits to the wearer’s wrist. The bracelet here is one of the most comfortable made on a sport watch for the 90s. This is a light and highly sporty watch design that comes at a mid-level price.

If you are interested in buying into early vintage luxury and investing in the 90s any of these watches are a great start as a collector.
