Omega’s Seamaster 300 Co-Axial Master Chronometer, updated in 2021, is a faithful homage to the original 1957 dive watch while incorporating modern enhancements in both design and performance. This latest version, particularly the stainless-steel model with a blue dial and bezel (Ref. 234.30.41.21.03.001), strikes a perfect balance between retro charm and contemporary refinement.

Sandwich Dial

One of the most noticeable changes in this Omega timepiece is the adoption of a sandwich dial, which gives the watch more depth and a vintage-inspired look. The top layer features cutouts for the numerals and hour markers, revealing the luminous base layer beneath. This technique, along with beige-toned accents and a luminous “lollipop” seconds hand, adds character without straying from its utilitarian roots.

The new version also replaces the ceramic bezel of its predecessor with an aluminum insert, offering better color harmony and enhanced nighttime legibility, though at the cost of reduced scratch resistance. The dive bezel, minute hand, and zero marker now glow in green, while the rest of the display glows blue.

Ergonomic Design

Functional updates include a more ergonomic, conically-shaped screw-down crown and a re-engineered bracelet that now tapers towards the clasp and features polished outer links for a refined aesthetic. Despite concerns about increased exposure to scratches, the bracelet held up well during extended wear testing.
