Omega’s Tribute to James Bond: The Seamaster Diver 300M 60th Anniversary

Last year, the James Bond franchise celebrated its 60th year in the entertainment industry. To mark the occasion, Omega released two new watches as a tribute to the world-famous secret agent. Let’s take a closer look at the special duo: the Seamaster Diver 300M 60 Years of James Bond in Canopus Gold™ and Stainless Steel.

Both watches have a 42mm case with a film-themed caseback that replicates the iconic 007 opening sequence, featuring Bond standing in the middle of a spinning gun barrel design. The scene plays out beneath a sapphire crystal decorated with a patent-pending micro-structured metallisation. The lollipop seconds hand drives the patent-pending “moiré” effect animation, which translates into a never-ending action scene.

The Seamaster Diver 300M 60 Years of James Bond in Stainless Steel draws inspiration from the watch that appeared in “GoldenEye,” the 1995 movie that marked the first time 007 wore an Omega watch. The mesh-style bracelet is in the same style as the Omega watch worn by Bond in “No Time to Die.” The blue oxalic anodised aluminium bezel and dial, the former featuring a diving scale filled with white Super-LumiNova, and the latter with laser-engraved waves, are notable features. A commemorative “60” replaces the scale’s traditional inverted triangle.

The watch is powered by a Co-Axial Master Chronometer Calibre 8806 and comes in a blue wooden box with the original Diver 300M wave pattern. The box has a secret push button on the right and three dots inspired by the classic Bond opening title sequence. Omega offers new accessories such as cufflinks and sailing bracelets inspired by the watches worn in several Bond movies, which complete the suave secret agent look.

Over the past three decades, several Omega watches have appeared in Bond films, such as the laser-installed Seamaster 300M Quartz that Bond used to cut an escape hatch in “GoldenEye” (1995), a modified version of the Seamaster 300M Chronometer in “Tomorrow Never Dies” (1997), and a Seamaster 300M Chronometer that saved Bond’s life in an avalanche in “The World is Not Enough” (1999).
