‘007 First Light’ Features Omega Seamaster in Latest Bond Installment
The release of 007 First Light has generated significant attention within both the gaming and entertainment industries. Following reports of 1.5 million copies sold within its first 24 hours, the title has emerged as more than just a commercial success. It also highlights a growing trend in video games, where luxury products are integrated directly into gameplay rather than serving as simple visual references.
One of the most notable examples is the inclusion of the OMEGA Seamaster. The Seamaster has been closely associated with James Bond since 1995, when Pierce Brosnan first wore the watch in GoldenEye. Over the decades, the timepiece has become one of the franchise’s most recognizable accessories, appearing in numerous Bond films and promotional campaigns.
The Seamaster’s Active Role
In 007 First Light, however, the Seamaster takes on a more active role. Rather than functioning as a background detail, the watch becomes an essential piece of equipment used throughout the game. It serves as a tactical tool that displays mission information, supports environmental hacking sequences, and helps players navigate objectives.
The game also introduces the watch through a classic Bond-style scenario. Players receive the Seamaster directly from Q, MI6’s head of research and development. During the scene, Bond is presented with seven versions of the same Seamaster Diver 300M Chronograph, each featuring a different strap option. While the variations do not affect gameplay, they enhance immersion and reinforce the sense of authenticity within the Bond universe.
By making the Seamaster an interactive part of the experience, 007 First Light transforms a famous luxury watch into a functional element of the story, further strengthening the long-standing connection between OMEGA and the world of James Bond.
